Not too long ago, I published an article listing what I consider to be the top five designer handbags for the money. So I though I’d compile a list of the top 5 pieces of jewellery to buy for long-term investment. For many years, I have advocated for others who share my passion for jewellery to consider making a long-term investment in genuine, high-quality fine jewellery. The thing I like best about jewellery is that, with proper care, it can be an inheritance that is passed down from generation to generation.
Besides the sentimental value of heirloom jewellery, I also consider it a good financial investment. If I had to sell this piece of jewellery for any reason, would I be able to recoup all or most of my investment? AKA Investing in fine jewellery.
The Hermès Birkin handbag is a good illustration of this. You may turn a profit by buying a Hermes Birkin and reselling it. Thus, I have compiled a list of five pieces of jewellery that would be excellent additions to your collection and would be good candidates for long-term investment.
5 Jewellery investment ideas:
1. Rolex Timepiece
No one should be too surprised to see a Rolex as the first item on my list. It’s no surprise that Rolex watches have endured for so many decades (no pun intended ).
In 1905, Hans Wildsdorf debuted the first Rolex. Wildsoft always wished he could strap a timepiece to his wrist. Only women of the time used wristwatches like this, and they weren’t quite as accurate as pocket timepieces. To guarantee the accuracy of his wristwatches, Wilsdorf collaborated with a Swiss watchmaker.
In response to the question of where he got the idea for the Rolex brand name, Wildsoft famously claimed that a genie had whispered it into his ear, at which point he promptly patented the term. The name Rolex has become instantly synonymous with high-quality timepieces.
A Rolex watch is an investment that will serve you well for many years to come. There’s no question in my view that Rolex is the best choice for anyone wishing to purchase a classic timepiece. Buying a Rolex is money well spent.
2. Bracelet by Cartier
When shopping for a Cartier designer piece, most consumers choose between two different bracelets. For starters, there’s the iconic Cartier Love bracelet. Next, we have the nail bracelets from Cartier, the Juste un Clou. Those are two beautiful bracelets, and I love them both.
The Cartier Love bracelet is an heirloom-quality accessory that will never go out of style. The Juste un Clou bracelet from Cartier is a more contemporary option that would look lovely in your collection.Cartier, like many other luxury brands, is infamous for increasing prices once or twice yearly. However, many consumers who bought a Cartier bracelet years ago can now get back more than they first invested.
If you’re thinking about purchasing a high-end accessory, like a Cartier Love bracelet or a Cartier Juste un Clou piece, now is the time to do it because the value of such items will only increase over time.
My personal opinion is that a Cartier bracelet is among the best jewellery investments you can make. One cannot overstate the value of a set of Cartier bracelets.
3. Bracelet by Van Cleef & Arpel with an Alhambra design
The Van Cleef & Arpel Motif bracelet is one of the most recognisable jewellery items in the world. This bracelet’s design was inspired by the four-leaf clover and its wearing is said to bring the wearer luck and prosperity.
Years ago, when I was in Paris, I noticed this bracelet on a stunningly fashionable woman sitting at the cafe counter across from me.
VCA’s Alhambra series has been available since 1968, when a necklace featuring 20 different designs debuted. There was an immediate demand for the jewellery among Hollywood stars. VCA’s distinctive Alhambra Motif design eventually made its way onto bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and even watches as the brand gained traction.
I have a deep appreciation for Van Cleef & Arpel. The attention to detail in each theme was one of the things that first drew me to the brand. The beauty of the handiwork is evident in each theme.
Among the many beautiful jewellery options available, the Van Cleef & Arpel theme bracelet is a must-have. The bracelet is beautiful, however my true favourite is the Alhambra necklaces by Van Cleef & Arpel.
4. To wit: The Josephine Collection by Chaumet
It is difficult to pick just one compilation from the numerous that are regarded classics from Chaumet. The Josephine Collection by Chaumet is my favourite, though.
For more than two decades, the Chaumet family has been proud to provide 45 exquisite items from the Chaumet Josephine collection. The most recognisable Josephine accessory is a ring. The design has stood the test of time, making it a valuable heirloom. Josephine rings are frequently used as engagement rings. I think you would like owning a piece of jewellery from Chaumet.
In terms of long-term value, jewellery from Chaumet is among the greatest options. Numerous celebrities have been spotted wearing Chaumet jewels on the red carpet.
5. Jewellery adorned with exquisite Mikimoto pearls
Highest Return on Investment: A Mikimoto Pearl Necklace
To me, pearls are the quintessential example of an accessory that will never go out of style. In my opinion, a beautiful set of pearl jewellery, such as a pearl necklace or pearl earrings, is something that any woman would treasure.
Jackie Kennedy, the ultimate fashion diva, also had a soft spot for pearls. The pearls are always fitting is a quotation from her. Women all throughout the world, not just celebrities and socialites, are obsessed with pearls.
If you’re only going to buy one timeless piece of jewellery that will work with everything in your closet, make it a good pair of pearls.
Therefore, it should come as no surprise that Mikimoto pearls are universally regarded as the finest in the world. Kokichi Mikimoto, who had a keen eye for detail, was unsatisfied by the pearls on the market at the time. A perfectly round cultured pearl was created by Mikimoto in 1905. Perfect pearls of the highest quality are still being produced by Mikimoto today.
The unrivalled quality of Mikimoto pearls places them squarely among the best jewellery investments of today, ensuring that they will be treasured for centuries to come. One of my favourite necklaces is a string of single pearls, and another is a single pearl drop with a diamond at the top.
