FAQs

How do you make spicy rice?
Stir with a pinch of ground cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, and cloves — use caution and taste. 1/2 cup crumbled cooked bacon, sausage, chorizo, or chopped ham. Add up to 1/2 cup of dried shrimp or crushed anchovies—season with your favourite spice blend.
What spices to add to rice?
Thyme, oregano, and parsley- The extra gourmet herbs spices are what I adore about this seasoned rice dish. They enhance the flavour of the rice meal as a whole. On the other hand, most fried rice toppings do not use herbs since they are more umami in taste.
What can I add to rice to give it some flavour?
One of my favourite methods to flavour rice is to use a cooking liquid other than water (bouillon or broth is a simple substitute) or to toss in fresh herbs, dried fruit, peas, almonds, or different flavour and colour enhancers.
How do I spice up jasmine rice?
In a sauce saucepan, combine two tablespoons butter, two cloves chopped garlic, one teaspoon turmeric, 1/4 teaspoon cumin, and 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon. Over medium heat, sauté the garlic and spices in the butter for 1-2 minutes or until the garlic softens. To the saucepan, add 2 cups uncooked long-grain jasmine rice.
